Here are some fresh (and refreshed) education initiatives available online to beauty and barber professionals this autumn.
THE BALANCED BEAUTY PRO
This online course, which launches in September, uses Somatic Movement to teach beauty service professionals how to care for their bodies while extending the longevity of their careers.
Created specifically for estheticians, lash and nail artists, hairdressers, and other beauty service providers, The Balanced Beauty Pro addresses the physical toll of these jobs. Chronic tension, fatigue, poor posture, pain, and discomfort are common yet preventable issues that plague many beauty professionals.
Co-founder Heather Hughes, a Somatic Movement educator with 13 years working in the beauty industry, developed the course with her sister Tiffany Hughes, a professional lash artist.
"I have seen and experienced first-hand the physical demands of beauty services," Tiffany Hughes says. "We learn the skills to offer our services, but we are rarely taught how to maintain and support our bodies, even though our bodies are vital to our careers."
The Balanced Beauty Pro teaches a form of Somatic Movement that works with the nervous system to reduce tension and pain with long-term results.
In addition to at-home exercises, the program includes education on postural awareness, the nervous system connection, and ergonomics, all accessible online.
LUMINARY NAIL SYSTEMS EDUCATION PROGRAM
Applications are open for Luminary Nail Systems' new virtual Education Program for licensed nail techs interested in becoming instructors.
The initiative is open to experienced nail artists looking to develop their teaching skills and contribute to professional training in the beauty industry. The goal is to create a network of educators who can help raise the standard of nail education and foster a collaborative professional community.
Candidate reviews and interviews will be ongoing through September, with candidates selected in October. The Virtual Academy begins in November 2025.
Luminary Nail Systems will select 24 candidates to attend its all-expenses-paid Educator Retreat in Las Vegas in early 2026.
WAHL EDUCATION ON DEMAND
As the only clipper brand with its own learning management system, Wahl Professional is providing structured training to thousands per year via an extensive video tutorial library and live, interactive classes led by Wahl educators from around the globe.
The free Wahl Education on Demand platform recently introduced the new Wahl Professional app, available via Google Play and iOS app stores, to make content available in eight languages and accessible in any country.
The trend-forward platform also incorporates gamification tools to encourage participation, foster friendly competition, and create a sense of community among members.
Recent classes from instructors around the globe include "High Skin Fade" taught by Wahl UK Creative Director Alan Beak; "Taper Blending Techniques" taught by US lead Wahl Pro educator Nieves Almaraz, and "Tapered Long Trim" taught by EU educator Giovanni Uktoselja.
