Get the Look: Mckenna Grace’s 80s Disco Blowout

“I love doing hair, I love working with women and most of all I love the relationship a hairdresser has with their clients!” says celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.

“I enjoy working with It Girls, and Mckenna Grace is the It Girl of the Moment!” Gibson says. “She has seven movies coming out and is the new face of ‘Hunger Games.’”

For the recent L.A. premiere of the actress-singer's latest film “Regretting You,” Gibson gave her a voluminous “1980s disco blowout” to complement the throwback vibes of her blush chiffon Paolo Sebastian gown.

Here is the how-to for the actress' romantic and sensual red-carpet hairstyle.

Step-by-Step

“I started off with a really great blow-dry," Gibson says. "I love blow-drying. It’s one of my most favorite things to do!

“On her damp hair, I used STARRING Shooting Star Texture Meringue mixed with Keune Ultimate Blowout. I applied two pumps of each. Then, I used a blow dryer on medium heat to take out the moisture in her hair to 80 percent dry.

“For styling I used a medium-sized, dual-bristle round brush: the nylon for detangling and the boar for smoothing. Taking her hair in 1-inch sections for control and smoothness, I started with the fringe, because Mckenna likes her bangs a certain way.

“Then I went to the nape of the neck, getting fullness from the scalp. A voluminous 1980s disco blowout. I was channeling the legendary 80s supermodel, Jerry Hall!

“As I worked up Mckenna's head, I put in a side part and continued to blow dry.

“Next, I used a medium- and large- sized Marcel iron to curl her hair. I alternated the curls back and forth. I was not going for a beach wave, but more of a bombshell look.

“After placing her hair where I wanted, I used L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hair Spray to hold everything in place.”
