Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Chaka Khan, makeup mogul Danessa Myricks, and other luminaries will be honored in October at Bronner Bros.’ first-ever Beauty Icon Awards, a cultural tribute and red-carpet celebration of icons, legends, and innovators in Black beauty.
The legacy hair-care brand intends for the new awards program to be a living museum of beauty and a showcase for style, artistry, and innovation by Black trailblazers in the industry.
The debut awards ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 11 in Atlanta, the brand’s home base since the 1940s, and co-sponsored by Vivacé and Red by Kiss.
The headlining honoree is Chaka Khan, the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, humanitarian, activist, and actress known as the “Queen of Funk.”
The show’s Executive Producer, Kelly Keith, calls Khan “the embodiment of a beauty icon.”
“Her music and presence have empowered generations," Keith says, "while her fearless style redefined beauty on her own terms."

Danessa Myricks — Celebrity makeup artist and founder/ CEO of Danessa Myricks Beauty.
Cliff Vmir — Rapper, hairstylist, beauty business prodigy, and founder of Femmé Hair Care.
Terrence Davidson — Celebrity hairstylist and wigmaster, educator, and entrepreneur.
Jesseca Harris-Dupart — Hairstylist, author, philanthropist, and founder/ CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products.
George E. Johnson Sr. — Business mogul, author, founder of Independence Bank and Johnson Products Co. of Afro Sheen fame.
Nastacia “Nas” Brady — Master braider, educator, and business owner.
Allen Cooley — Award-winning beauty, fashion, and entertainment photographer and instructor.
Shaina Rainford — founder/ CEO of hair- and scalp-care brand Bask & Lather Co.
The event, hosted by TV personality and entertainment journalist Segun Oduolowu, takes place at Atlanta’s Bronner Center of Performing Arts at the Riverside EpiCenter.
Bronner Bros. has been family-owned since its founding in 1947 by brothers Dr. Nathaniel H. Bronner, Sr. and Arthur E. Bronner, Sr.
The company produces beauty and grooming products and is renowned for hosting the Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show in Atlanta, a showcase of Black enterprise, beauty, and culture.
