Biotech beauty company Goddess Maintenance Co., which introduced the “BioProtection” hair-care category earlier this year, has secured a multimillion-dollar investment from beauty and wellness growth equity firm Iris Ventures.
The funding will accelerate Goddess’ product development, expand its salon partnerships, and support its global growth, both parties say.
“Goddess exemplifies the kind of boundary-breaking innovation we look for,” says Iris investor Marc Calzada. “World-class science, a clear mission, and a brand built to resonate globally.”
Goddess launched in April 2025 by carving out the BioProtection niche, built around its proprietary Goddess molecule — which emulates the strength and flexibility of spider silk — as its hero ingredient.
The molecule was developed in partnership with biomaterials company Bolt, using its vegan “b-silk” polypeptide that mimics spider silk’s amino acid structure.
Combining macro and micro peptides that penetrate both the hair cuticle and cortex, the Goddess molecule forms a protective scaffold-like structure around strands that the brand says provides damage repair and defense, improves manageability, and extends style longevity.
Goddess’ debut product, BioTech Blowout Leave-In Restorative Hair Mask, has reached more than 100 countries since its April launch.
The company is positioned as a salon-first, biotech-powered brand focused on sustainable innovation. Goddess was founded by entrepreneurs and sisters Lauren Vesler and Manda Mason, creators of prestige nail and beauty salon chain The W Nail Bar (now Goddess Maintenance Shops), along with seasoned beauty innovators Edward Connaghan and Denise Russell.
The married duo formerly served as executives and brand architects of Olaplex and K18 Hair, and founded the beauty biotech incubator Next8 Investments.
The funding signals strong investor confidence in science-led beauty innovations. Iris Ventures founder and managing partner Montse Suarez says Goddess is “redefining what’s possible in professional hair care.”
“With its proprietary molecule, deep stylist-first approach and global ambition, Goddess is delivering a true breakthrough that bridges the gap between repair and maintenance,” Suarez says, “transforming how we think about long-term hair health.”
This round of funding marks the Spanish VC firm’s latest investment in the beauty and wellness space. Its portfolio includes Maurten (sports nutrition), Olistic (hair loss), Healf (wellness retail), and Superlativa (women’s supplements).
